Hi! This is an extra blog post just to tell you about food writing events I’m excited about — particularly a writing workshop in Italy this September. Here’s what’s coming up:
1. May 10, 2017
Speaker
The 2017 Culinary Nutrition Conference
Online
Free
Hear from leading bloggers, researchers, educators, authors, nutritionists and more who will impact the way you work. Founder Meghan Telpner, nutritionist and head of the Academy of Culinary Nutrition, interviews me about food writing and cookbook proposals. It ncludes a swag bag full of downloads from experts. And it’s all free.
2. May 20, 2017
Speaker
Food and Wine Conference
Rosen Shingle Creek, Orlando FLA
May 19-21, 2017/$325
I’m excited to present at this conference for the first time. On Saturday morning, I’ll be talking about how to get into the 1 percent of book proposals accepted by publishers. Yes that’s right: 1 percent is the industry average. Find out what it takes.
3. September 6-11, 2017
Instructor
Food Writing for Food Lovers
Valpolicella, Italy
Approx. $1900-$2375 US
Fly into Venice, stay in a villa, and work on your craft. Come to this 4-day workshop where we will visit artisans and write their stories. Attendance is limited to only six people, giving you lots of access to my host Demet Guzey, who teaches food writing at Le Cordon Blu in Paris, and me. We’ve planned a tortellini-making class, trips to excellent restaurants specializing in local cuisine, and private consulting time with each of us. You’ll work on the craft of storytelling, techniques to enhance your writing, and learn trends in food writing.
Hope to see you soon, whether virtually or in person.
I’m so looking forward to your Italy workshop, Dianne,. Hope we get a “full house” of students for what sounds like a fabulous way to learn about how to describe food with flair.
Thank you Lynn. We are very close to that, I’m thrilled to say!
The food writing event in Valpolicella sounds like a dream come true, Dianne! Enjoy it 🙂
Thank you Ines. We are now full but people can cancel without penalty until June 8, so I am not celebrating yet. And one person has joined the waiting list, which is terrific. It seems like someone always cancel as we get closer to the workshop date. Arranging these things is not for the faint of heart!
Just hope for the best and I’m sure it will turn out just fine 🙂
It’s too late for me to join this year, but will definitely follow the events for next year 🙂
P.S. I sent you an email that I think you might find useful 🙂
